So I put on about 100 miles just to be sure she was a good runner. Some of you asked me to contact the PO to find out what he did to the tank to keep it so clean and rust free while sitting for 24 years. He said all he did was never use any ethanol base fuel. Says he put it away with some fuel in and by the time I got it most of it had evaporated out of the tank through a bad gas cap gasket. That was how I found it. He said the bike never saw rain and was stored in a cool dry place all the time and covered. Hence, the chrome in such great condition. Today I moved this K3 into the heated patio at my wife's urging.
Here it will get a more through cleaning, polishing, new tires, HM341's, chain, etc. I am thinking of changing out the front and rear wheel bearings like I did on the others. But with just over 5,000 miles on it I am wondering if that is overkill. Easy enough job and cost is not much. Looking forward to getting this Mac system off. It is in great shape and the chrome shines like the rest of the bike, but this K3 would look so much better with the 341's. Looking forward to this project bike this year.
