Installation battery status monitor
« on: October 18, 2011, 01:30:51 PM »
Hi,
I have bought a BSM (battery status monitor) from http://www.aoservices.co.uk/data/bsm.htm
The BSM is a limited range LED voltmeter, designed to monitor the voltage across a 6V or 12V lead-acid battery.
The BSM will change colour dependent on its input voltage; the colour will indicate the operational state of the battery.
Connection: join the positive (RED) and negative (BLACK) wires to the ignition circuit and earth.

So, where is the best place to cut the wires and connect the BSM?

thx,
gp

Dakota:
I would think in the headlight case would be an easy hook-up. The way I understand it you connect the red to a lead that gets hot when the ignition is on and connect the black to ground. You could connect it using jumper leads just to test it.

I installed a Battery Bug (similar gauge) I connected each wire to the opposite ends of my battery cables. Red to the solenoid, black to the frame. It doesn't draw enough juice to drain the battery at all.
