What are the differences in the 750 Petcocks?!?
« on: October 25, 2006, 02:34:25 PM »
Why did honda change the design of their petcocks?  Don't they all flow/look/act almost identically?

My dilema on my 750k5:

OK, My strainer bag and reserve tube assembly have been out of my petcock since I got the bike.  The plastic holder was broken when I serviced it so I just left it out.  I ran out of gas the other day and figured I need to get this fixed.  I usually keep an eye on the fuel level in the tank, but I must have been too happy just riding.

Well, for the dopey strainer kit, it's gonna be close to $30 from Honda.  This type petcock has no bowl, only one outlet and is mounted to the left side of the tank.  the strainer piece goes into the gas tank, not with the bowl.  I have an in-line fuel filter, but I want the reserve switch to work.

Any suggestions?

I think I'll just bite the bullet and order it.  It's the petcock on the right.  Which leads me to my next question...  I think I'm going to rename this post...

There is a lot more to that then I thought there was.  This is definitly part of my winter project.  I was hoping to get away with a new o-ring and call it a day.  We'll see.
