Welcome to riding season 2006!
« on: May 15, 2006, 11:24:08 PM »
So how is eveyone doing? The weather out here in California broke loose finally about 2 weeks ago.I have'nt been able to cut loose from work for a full fledged ride yet but have been riding to work and back(only 5 miles each way).Bike is running very sweet....have been getting many thumbs up and questions from both old timers that remember them and youngsters that don't have a clue what they are looking at.I wouldn't trade mine in for any other bike although I would'nt mind adding a couple of different ones to the group.I saw a 75' Super Sport in the paper the other day for $1000.I thought about calling the dude and maybe picking it apart to lower the price but it was already gone!!! If it was a K model,I would have been all over it like flies on #$%*!!

I thought you guys in California had 330-odd riding days per year?

Our spring arrived 3 weeks ago and I've been out every day since then.  I ride to work on my VFR and use the 500 on weekends.

We've had a surprising mild and dry spring and have been able to get in a fair amount of riding considering the time of year.. that is until about 4 days ago. Rain and cool every day, thought we had gotten moved to Seattle or London (no offence to residents of either location). It is looking like we may have at least another week of this. >:(

I've been riding since mid-april, and there are people who ride year-round here, and I'm in CANADA  ;D  Toronto anyway, which is actually as far south as northern california.

I just like the fact that this time of year all I have to do to get on the bike is throw on my jacket and ride!

No thick Winter gloves, no thermal long underwear, no five friggin layers underneath the jacket, no ski mask underneath the helmet, no heated hand grips slowly draining my battery while keeping life-giving blood flowing through my otherwise frostbitten fingers!  Can you tell I'm sick of the cold weather? ;D

Agree about all the clobber.

I bought some Draggin jeans.  They are cooler than wearing leather trousers but the kevlar lining makes them warmer (and safer) than Levis.

Steve,

Glad to see your endorsement of Draggin Jeans. I've been considering getting a pair.

Actually, $79.95 here.  ;) Next time you need a pair, might be cheaper for one of us to buy them for you and mail them over.  ;D

Edit: So much for my smile, looks like they have gone up. As you predicted, $89.95. Was looking at a fairly old review. :(

The weather in Victoria has been beautiful for the last couple of weeks, and it only takes one good sunny day or a couple of mediocre days for the bikes to start pouring back onto the roads.
There's a lot of choppers, cruisers and crotchrockets heading up the street along my place, so I can't wait to get this puppy "oot n' aboot". Considering the looks it was getting while in the back of a truck, I'm guessing it should get a bit more attention when bombing down the street undre its own steam.  :-X

We had great weather in Kentuckiana until about 2 weeks ago. It's been cold, rainy and gloomy since then. Had one day a week ago that was nice...until the wind/storms/tornados came in that evening. 40 mph gusts are no fun for a noob like me! Weather's supposed to break tomorrow and I suspect I'll see more bikes than cars on the road.  8)
