750 Rear Fender
« on: October 23, 2011, 08:23:41 AM »
Why did Honda put a hole in the rear fender below the license plate? Was it for a rack or something else? I know you experts here will know the answer.... ;)

For a little rubber snubber to stop the plate from damaging the fender.

I think it was actually to prevent plate cracking from vibration, except we dont get a lot of that.
I suspect that some plates are made of dead soft aluminum, ie 0 temper, and  crack fairly easily, in some cases.

it's funny they are below the plate.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I have found tits to still be available, but as I have gotten older, they interest me less than a nicely restored Honda.  The Honda is certainly less trouble.

Plates at least here in Michigan have gotten smaller. Some guys register bikes as 'antique'here, buy one plate and never have to again. You buy an original plate from your year and register those numbers. Kind of cool seeing the old bigger plates.
