What is a "63 HP version" of a CB650 cam?
« on: October 24, 2011, 06:00:42 AM »
Many people do the 650 cam in a 500/550 swap. Sometimes, I see peopel mention a "63 HP" version.
I have a cam from an '81 CB650. Were there different versions? Do the numbers on my cam tell me anything?

From what I've read in other posts the 79-80 cams are the preferred grind. They changed for the later year models.
Sorry I don't have the numbers handy. I'll check out in the shed this evening and see if I can find some info from my 1980 cam.

No all 650 cams are the same "63 hp" version.   Except for a low pow 50hp version that went to Germany of all places. Was a tax issue though.  Unless u are in Europe doubtful you would get one.
