for those of you that may not know... you can click on the filename below each picture and get a better look.

most of the pictures are larger, fairly small in file size (easy downloads) and worth taking a look at... mmmmm shiney  :)

did i mention that "baby" (my 350f) and i did a 200 mile ride on saturday?  the "old bike ride 4"  we went up lookout mountain, thru golden gate canyon state park, thru nederland and ward, then up flagstaff mountain.

the pic is at the top of flagstaff mountain which overlooks boulder, co.

check out the 38 and 45 Indians in the very back.  they chugged their way around the ride too.  i think there were at least 50 bikes total.  most of which were older than 1975 which is what the "old bike" in "old bike ride 4" means...   ;D

p.s.  that's elizabeth (the gf) on my bike.

the competitive blood runs thick here...  ;)  plus, i really felt the need to share that "the little 350 that could" once again surprised me by not exploding during another grueling ride.  it was great to flick the bike on all those switchbacks and mountain twisties.  a true superbike... with a tiny-sized motor  :D

Well, I think a bit of history here...considering whats at stake.. ;D
I decided I needed a hobby, Never had, drove (really) or worked on a bike before...so after a while found this mess (I was robbed  :o friend of mine used to have one), dragged it sideways, bleeding and leaving a trail of rusty metal along the path to the trailer. (My kids were crying when I got home "Dad told lies...he said he was getting a bike")
Jesus..www.what to do now...anyway, took off a bit, another bit, another and before I knew it I had the bare frame surrounded by bags and boxes of bits.
Because this was a hobby, It was never to leave my workshop. except for coating the frame and re-bore, everything else was done with the assistance of (in order of importance) 1. My wife. 2. Mr Bryan Jones, 3. My wife. 4. SOHC4, 5 DSS.
Very few parts were bought (well apart from Chains, sprockets, pistons etc and a front "fender".
year & half later (After a minor setback) this cranked up after only three kicks...She has never let me down a day since....(Bike either  :D)

being a mod i can see that not very many people have voted  :-\

2000 users and 22 votes... not a great turnout.

don't just talk about it... vote about it  ;D

p.s.  i'm not telling who's winning.

only 41 votes so far out of 2225 members  ???  i wish i could tell my secret about who's winning.  i can not.  but, when there are two mods in the contest er, um, i mean two bikes that belong to mods in the contest... is it fair that two contestants know the score?

You should post in the open forum to let people know about the contest, and put a link to this thread in it.  I didn't even notice the "bike of the month" section for a long time because I get used to only looking at certain sections of the main page.

Moderators, is it ethical for me to vote for my own bike??

I am slipping in the page views and find myself moody and staring blankly out of the window for hours on end.....

Ok, besides "hard finding" this link, it is really hard to decide between this lineup. Bob's looks nice in the traditional looking backyard. Heffay's really looks the moddest, and is on the dirt on a mountain, gaining points. Paul's has the same color as mine and looks to be a stock restore done well. The last red one is enhanced by the helmet and the riders around.

I went through the picks a lot of times and decided to vote for Bob's, almost Heffay's, and then the red toy.
Reason Bob got the nod, I saw what appeared to be the polished up caliper and the master cylinder for the front. I figured there was a lot of work put in all of them, and being so newb on these bikes I wasn't sure who worked the most at it. They all look so much better than my 78K any one could win. :D
Bob and Heffay were both cool mods to me, and I don't think Paul had to chew me out yet, and then toycollector almost got it with his staring out the window thing. I guess Paul's comments were the ones that didn't tug at the vote string at all.
Paul got beat in the pic setup-, not on his bike work, IMO, everyone else has nature in there, and Paul's has the white brick wall, that biased me some.

 :D ...

All of the bikes look great!~

We have the same thing going over at the ZRXOA group, it's a lot of fun but run differently than this contest.

I'm looking forward to just seeing all of the awesome bikes in this SOHC group  :o

I'll tell ya they are all worthy. I'd hate to be a judge and have to pick one. Bob and toycollector's bikes are great looking but, so are Paul and heffay's. There are loads of others on this site that are great examples also. Great job guys.     Later on, Bill
