Installed Pamco ignition and used my original coils with 49,000 miles.

Love it!

Went with the HondaMan, 3 Ohm ignition.

5K miles, no issues.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Fair warning, sometimes this turns into another "oil" thread.

But I run full Dyna on my CB550 and am more than happy. Starts right up and idles smooth even on cold mornings. Not as cold blooded as it came from the factory.

I run Dyna coils & ignition on my 550 and it works great. I only replaced the coils because my wires were in rough shape and I didn't want to splice them. For me, the points were fine, and I knew how to keep them set... I just didn't want to.

Pamco with 5.0 ohm coils from Z1 (only because my stock coils/wires were toast). No issues.

I ripped out the stock points and stuck a few small live mice under the points covers, with an apperatus that give them a bit of food each time they press the spark button. Not exactly solid state but my bike is running better than ever with higher horse power, stronger spark and easier cold starts.

The concept is well proven, most work well.  One suppliers customer service sucks.
