rods can't rust to crank. bearings are non ferous. It's unlikely there is rust in that junction. Likely the bearing just welded itself to the journal. Rod cap should still come off though. Bearings should not adhear to the rod itself all that tight.

On the rod caps that you can get the nuts off of, try to tap down the bolts the use a soft drift to loosen the cap. Oiling certainlly will not hirt anything. To lift crank out with rods on, pistons must be off, that was already mentioned.

Well, the rods were stuck still. But I got them to move, finally, after a hammer barrage.
The pistons are now outside the case enough for me to remove the pins.
I'll post an update later on today - had to leave so I couldn't remove it.

It came out after I removed the two pistons.
The culprit was the stuck rod which jammed the rotation. After forcing the rod to rotate, the two pistons lifted a bit and could be removed.
Tx!

Now, that stuck rod, it's not rust, but how is it possible? And could it have damaged the crankshaft? I'd like to get it to move freely again. Should I soak it in diesel?

Sorry i haven't followed the whole thread. Was the engine abused? Had it run low on oil pressure, the conrod bearing could seize to the crank. If so, yes the crank journal could be damaged.

There have been some threads here where they had the journal welded up and ground down to spec. But might be cheaper to just get a good used crank.

But it could be something else, Isupppose.
