Starter Motor Wire Repair
« on: October 28, 2011, 10:41:19 AM »
When I bought my 750K8 the PO very kindly took the liberty of cutting through the starter motor wire. As my build progresses it's getting to the point where I need to get it fixed.

Can somebody tell me:

1. How long the wire is supposed to be
2. What the terminal end looks like (ie the bit that connects to the relay)
3. Recommendations on what I would use to repair it with

Lastly, I've never soldered a wire as thick as this before. What kind of kit will I need?

As always thanks in advance for any advice.

You might be better off trying to source another honda wire off of a bad starter.  I have had trouble finding wire that large that someone would sell me a short length (approx16") the crimp terminal is also an issue to find locally as most are too small for that application, or too big to fit the terminal on the solenoid. You will also need an uncommonly large soldering iron that has a very high wattage rating to heat that much wire.

Yes, that looks like it would work fine. Thanks for the link!
