CB750K2: Length of Tach Cable
« on: October 28, 2011, 10:09:15 AM »
Hi guys: CB750K2: So I bought these cables from Motion Pro. The Speedo Cable is right on. The MP tach cable is 3 inches longer than what I was running. Thing is, what i was running has a gray cover, so it can't be stock. It did fit nicely.  But the MP cable is obviously incorrect, it loops out in front of the triple tree.

MotionPro said they would cut down the cable to my specs no charge,  provided I gave them my original cable to look at. That's only fair. Problem is my cable is not an original. So if one or two of you could measure yours and report back, i could use that as my backup.

To match their cable to a non-original would be a custom charge. They acknowledged that it is very difficult to maintain a database of cable lengths. I would expect especially so on a tach cable which isn't a high demand item. But i can't imagine what that 27" tach cable would fit. Maybe a DOHC?

My cable is 24" and the MP is 27". Just measure the sheath, with the drive end, but not the nut on the other end, and let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for that. I'd like to get one more confirm of this before submitting to Motion Pro. Anyone?

My measurement was off a CB750K4. That measurement was from the lower cable housing end to the top housing end. I did not include the top fastener in that size.

Thanks, that's the consistent way to measure. The housing with its permanent endings, but not the spin nuts etc.

I checked the parts fishy and we have the same cable, though its been upgraded from "300" center digits to "449" center digits.
