Need to borrow key# T4564..GOT IT... THANKS MCRider !
« on: October 29, 2011, 05:04:09 AM »
I just got a lower triple tree for my vintage 72' CB350K4 and I want to remove the old steering lock & install my # lock.I tried drilling one out a while back & had it turn out bad. Will any one send me a spare key that they have just to borrow to remove the old lock ? I will use it & send it right back to you in a protected envelope.

                                                                              Thanks

I looked, I have several, but not that one. Sorry.  :(  It is a piece of cake with a key.

you're already burned more in wasted time writing here than ordering the key for $6.50.

The price must vary. His website says to contact him for current prices on the T series, so i did.

Oh yeah, he does have them BTW.

The only reason I need the key is to remove the steering lock;if I bought one,I would have to resell it...a pain.

3 weeks' delay for a $10 key?  I'd have bought one by now...

Good luck!

LOL!  Yeah, when fixing up old stuff, I've really become addicted to that clean, gray uniform metal that comes out!

Too bad my compressor is so small.  1 minute of blasting, 2 minutes of waiting for compressor to pump up.  And only about 30 minutes total before the poor thing is getting really hot.

Sooner or later, I'll get a big compressor and the 240-v wiring to support it.  :)

I used to work in my biological Father's air compressor business & he had a sandblaster w/ a little bit smaller cabinet than that one you have...that one that YOU have looks like a large commercial Duty unit;have you ever tried putting in a smaller nozzle so that it will push less CFM ?

It was a relatively inexpensive Harbor Freight unit.  The least expensive floor-standing model they had, and it was 20% off at the time.  About $200, IIRC.  Anyway, it came with a few spare stone nozzles, and I put the smallest one in it.

However, you make a good point - they DO open up over time, so I suspect after all this time, I might see some improvement if I put in a new, small-opening nozzle again.

Is it possible to purchase a "smaller than small" nozzle set up for it;kind of like a very narrow point of spray...like a fine laser;it might allow your compressor to ALMOST keep up w/ the added feature of that fine spray being able to get right in to crevices, you could also lower your working pressure.I am not sure if you could do it w/ the nozzle apparatus that came w/ it though.

Pick it

get a wire from a windshield wiper, the flat ones, bend it 90° about 1/2" from the end.
stick it in the lock on the straight side, and apply a twisting force to open the lock.

get a paper click, straighten it out, put a little bump in the end deep enough to push in a pin as deep as the deepest cut in the key.  Stroke that in and out and pray.
