750 missing oil
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:39:13 AM »
I have a 73 750 I am rebuilding.  I had it running OK this summer after rebuilding carbs.  After 2 months of sitting without running, the oil tank is empty!  I know it all drained into the sump, but can I leave it there on start up this spring without hurting the engine?

Should I put some oil in the tank, 1/2 quart or so?

Should I pull plugs and kick it over to prime oil pump?

Should I not worry about it?

This is my first bike with a oil tank, so I could use some advice.

You will be fine starting it.  Look for the oil to return to the tank after it begins to warm up.

See! oil does mysteriously vanish. :o
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
