« on: October 29, 2011, 02:27:40 PM »
Can someone please tell me what this is and what it connects to (and that it's easy and no big deal).

If it helps... all I know is that the other end of it is grouped in with my overflow tubes.

it might be the  breather tube but you need to pull back some to get a better view of the carb rack, remove the tank and take a shot down through from the top of the bike. they are located between the 2nd & 3rd carb there are two of them for each side. looks like it has pulled out. should slide back in...

Thanks. I think that is it. I see the other one. The one still connected seems to drain in front of rear wheel whereas this one is tied in with my 4 carb overflow tubes. I don't have good light to see right now, but it doesn't exactly look like an easy place to get to secure back on. Any tips?

I have a variety of straight and curved nosed locking forceps.  They are stainless steel so they last forever and they are really cool for delicate or hard to get-at things.  You can use them not only to slip the hose into place but also to get the stupid ring clamp weasled into position too.  You can often buy sets at tool discounters or look around tool sections in thrift stores.  If you know someone in the medical business, they often have access to stuff that is being obsoleted.  Don't leave home without it!

Those little barbed ends seemed to be cast into the bodies on my carbs.  Hope it didn't snap off.

It seems I was able to push it back in its proper place. As seen in the pic, my hose was connected to that metal end. I kept that intact and pushed the metal end in. Going to ride now, hopefully it's in secure and stays put.

Does anyone know if that metal end should be able to come in/out like that or if in fact it is supposed to be cast in and only the hose should come on/off?

not sure if it's really cast in...I think it is more of a press in deal...as long as it stays put and doesn't leak gas out or vacuum it'll be fine...if it keeps coming out, maybe put a little threadlock on there or something...
If it works good, it looks good...

It seems to be staying put and not leaking, etc. I will watch it. Looks like parts diagram (Carb) refers to the two as Bulk Hose.
