Do you want to do it w/ original stock equipment?
Yes please as mine is original too. But... original here means with the low handlebars. That's the way Honda equipped them for the European market and with them you don't look funny at all, not even with my length and... bike is best controled with those. I don't know what kind of market Honda had in mind with the USA style handlebars (toycollectors?) but those handlebars can never ever offer you the right riding postion, period. Are you sure you can find a stretch with a safe road surface or shall we do it in one of these insignificant countries that at least have their roads up to standard? No wonder US has speed limits everywhere. Coming from Canada the difference was striking.

I may be kicking myself in the balls here but I will say out of all the SOHC's I have had, my 800lb Venture out does them - in my opinion of course.  But then I am too old for that chit now...at least compared to my invincible teen years.

From what I remember, that 400-4 I had when I was 14 was great bike to play with on the Mulholland's in Southern California.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I've always found weight is not in the right place on a 750 (to high up) but that's my opinion.

I agree that the 750 is more top-heavy, but in my experience the only time that comes into play is in very low speed maneuvering, like in a parking lot or dense city traffic.  In situations where I'm going to be riding around town and dealing with traffic I take the 550 because it's less tiring and easier to flick around obstacles.

A mate of mine has a '76 750 bonny, he came to see me at work today and the old bonny showed it's character when he went to start it, the kicker broke and just hung down, my only comment was he should have bought a honda.   ;D He ended up riding home with his right foot on the rear peg propping the kicker up so it wasn't trying to engage or dragging on the ground. I personally like my 'boring' honda that I know will start when I want it to, I work on trucks and machinery all day, the last thing I want to do while trying to enjoy my bike is to have to fix it whenever I ride it.

Knowing NADA about Triumph's, can he fix that kicker without splitting the cases?

I'm sorry you can't handle roads that aren't newly paved. Do you want us to also arrange mild temperatures and rest stops every couple of miles (kilometers)? I'd like to see you attempt riding on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. You'd probably have a hissy-fit. And are you one of those turtles afraid to exceed posted speed limits? I'm not as fast as I used to be (I have my moments) and don't see anybody obeying them, anyway. And BTW, I've been riding for 36 years, about a quarter-million miles.
Around here in the good ol' USA, riders and their machines have hardened and honed their adaptability to diverse road conditions, and makes for a more competent rider. I also believe that a lightweight motorcycle doesn't make for as stable a highway machine with the bumpy roads and wind-gusts. Billiard-smooth roads are nice but we can handle diverse extremes, usually even welcome it for the added interest and higher sense of awareness of road conditions at all times.
You should try the Kangamankus Highway in New Hampshire White Mountains, I've done that 25 mile section in under 20 minutes buncha times. With my ol' lady on board. Many sections have 125 mph+ straights.

And then do the Mount Washington fire road. Its mostly dirt switchbacks, no guardrails. Great fun on a motorcycle.

I should point out that over the pond the big? trucks are.... shall we say smaller than here.
I think to fairly compare the 500 vs 750 you have to travel on  many types of roads..

Actually, the 350 Four is lots of fun and enough of a bike keep you entertained for the public roads.  Its super smooth and really flickable.  I have to admit that the only bike I ever got a speeding ticket on (so far) was on one of those #1 Super Cubs.  It was a 55cc in 1964...  With the 350 I now have a better chance of getting away. ;D ;D ;D

I rode the 750K1 up to the bottom of the snowfields in 1971.  It was impressive off road ... low speed torque kept the rear tire from spinning.  Brakes worked quite well on the way down too  ::)

Yes i meant Yerp...
The trucks over there are about the size of our RV's!
We used to build Western Star trucks in this town before production shifted to Portland.
They built a lot of road train trucks for OZ, probably a lot of them habe clutch pedal  clamp ends that I built, or clutch/control rods..

I cant wait till someone with a 250-6 chimes in.. My 250 is all you need.. as fast as your 750s.. WWAAAAYYYY more FLICKABLE, and easier to ride !!.. a bit Peaky though...

My buddy owns a Vespa. It will outperform my Honda Dream. I've always considered my Dream a real bike but maybe I'm wrong.

I enjoy riding my Dream and all of the other bikes I've ever owned. At the very least, the Honda CB750 is definately at the top of the list of my all time affordable bike.

Boring? I understand the point but I still grin every time I ride mine.
