my new toy i got last night
« on: November 11, 2011, 08:02:20 PM »
it is a 75 cb750 with a 836 kit santee frame hasn't ran in 2 years i put some gas in the tank knowing damn well it's not going to do anything to my surprise it wanted to start. so the carbs come off tomorrow.i posted earlier this week about a xs650 but the guy was to flakey.so the other night before i was going to bed i gave my last craigslist round and low and behold there it was i emailed the guy thursday i went and looked at it and bought it. something told me wait a minute before you buy the 650.my son and i are going to do this up totally 70's we even gave it the name " the wabac machine" (i'll give you a hint does the name peabody ring a bell).my son is going to paint peabody on the oil tank. i'm looking for the right coffin tank it will be flaked out real heavy and i'm planning on gold leafing some areas on the frame.my son is more excited about it than i am also the guy said he couldn't keep coils in it they kept burning up until he put some harley coils on it. i think they where grounding out because they where inside a chrome box?? and he took them out and put in the harley ones and hadn't had any probs since
I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

I'm surprised its run as recent as 2 years ago. usually 20 years ago.

re: the coils. Hundreds maybe thousands of Santee conversions made with stock coils. Some other problem than the chrome box.

"presto"!   Very cool toy, always wanted one of those.  My concern was how would it handle the high speed turns?

Be careful what you wish for Dave................ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Seriously that looks like a groovy project. there is a fine line between a beautiful sohc chopper and many not so nice looking. I think you are off to a good start.

What is that large Chrome box for in the back of the motor underneath the carbs ?
Is it the "built in memory pack" for the "way back machine"? or a 70's homemade toaster oven ?
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !
Do your BEST...nobody can take that away from you.

its a santee electrical box thats where all the elecronics sit. reg, rectifier, soleniod, and other stuff. thanks don r  my son son has some real cool paint ideas for it the magic word is tons of metal flake and with gold and silver leafing here and there. i always wanted a chopper like my dad and his buddies had when i was young now it will happen after this project is over i think i will be done. i will have fullfilled some things in life that i have always wanted. my family, my lowrider with hydraulics, and now my chopper. life is great! when life gives you lemons paint that crap gold!!

the coils are on the frame down tubes, just in case you want them to get wet.
