The Best Epoxy
« on: October 27, 2011, 08:40:33 AM »
I have found the best epoxy.  Locktite 9462 hysol.

You have a crack in the side cover?  No problem, clean the inside of the cover with windex mix part A and part B. It is very thick and takes 24 hours to cure but I guarantee that crack is fixed.

We use this stuff in radio control airplanes and jets.  The big ones... 10 hp and above. It will never shake apart.

I buy it at McMaster-Carr.

Sounds good.  Much like oils, different products are needed for different applications.  How does it hold up to gasoline or oil?  What about heat or water?  I am not slamming it, just curious what all it is capable of.  JB weld is a wonderful epoxy, but it has limitations also.
36 years of this stuff, here to help.

I would not use it on heat, like engine.  But gas and water do not affect it.  It remains kind of flexable yet very strong.  Google the number and read about it.  I really like this stuff.

I've used JB weld for many things including fixing cracks and building up missing tabs on side covers. Easy to file, sand and paint too.

Here is another good one.  I haven't found a plastic it won't bond together.

ok heres the right reply to the right subject.
hysol is some good stuff..so is jb weld. we use hysol at work for bonding compostes together that expeireince 400+ degrees air. a good freind had a small grumman airplane that had very few rivets in it..the rest was bonded together with this stuff. yes wings included.
but the most important thing with using any glue is to make sure the surfaces you are bondind are clean. as my dad told me with soldering copper pipe. when you think its clean..clean it again. its a #$%* to do over.
