'78 750K...Joining the ranks
« on: September 30, 2011, 06:23:02 PM »
Hey Everyone,

Joined the site a while ago, but picked up reading again. Will be working on my wonderful 750 pretty soon here.

I want to customize it a little...give it a conservative cafe feel (lower handlebars, remove center stand, etc). Must work through the engine to replace gaskets that are leaking oil all over my engine (left side mostly). So I thought, "why not freshen everything else up?" Needs a bit of work, but it runs well. Roughly 26K miles on the odo. Engine could be WAY stronger.

Looking to hookup a sweet 4-2-1 exhaust, re-jet, and some other minor necessities to make it zing!

Any advice on this year/make/model is very welcome. I'm a beginner, so go easy and keep it simple. It's my first bike, I've been riding for about four yers and I'm totally addicted.

I'm great at learning as I go, so all the help I can get is great!

THANKS!!

~PJ

Welcome aboard! I've had my 78' 750K since it was 8 years old. Currently 60,000 on the odometer and still running strong, completely stock except for the Mac 4 into 1. New valve seals a couple of years ago is the furthest I've had to venture inside. Other members here have gone much further with an original engine. 26,000 miles is barely broken in!
