first ko ¥ 2 980 000 = 38 126.12 U.S. dollars, check the gold sandcast @  ¥ 3 500 000 = 44 779 U.S. dollars
one of the 400f @ ¥ 850 000 = 10 874.9 U.S. dollars

If I've converted right, ouch!

$10k for a cb400f that's not quite even stock, sheesh.   I see the 'Z2' -- what is that, a Kaw Z1-900's little bro?   A 750cc?  going for 3,500,000 yen = $44,808 by today's $1->78.11 yen exchange rate.

And all we hear about is "Japan's 'lost decade'" -- can't be THAT lost they're spending $10,000 for a generic cb400f.   You can buy a cb400f like that in 12.1% unemployment California for $1000.   Buy 10 take 'em to Japan sell 'em make $90,000 then repeat.   Or spend 6 months and $100,000 to buy 100 of them take them to Japan make $900,000 and take a couple years off.

 Before you cant sleep adding up all the money you canmake selling Japanes bikes back..

 There may be large taxes/duties/import fees..etc.. and labor rates in Japan may be much higher than here..
 ..just saying a 10K bike there may be a 4k bike here..

 There was a K3 750 on here the other day at 6900 or 7900..

A little CBX trivia: a friend of mine in SLO claimed to own the very first CBX sold on the west coast of the USA. Chris was originally from Lompoc, and used to ride over there often to visit his family. If you happened to see a silver CBX there in '79, there is a good chance it was his. ;D
