That sucks!  Did you see who did it, or did you just come out to find your bike on the ground?

Sorry to hear about your bike, maybe you should park it on the sidewalk like I do.

Some jag lightly sideswiped my bike when I first got it. Cared allot less about it then , compared to how I feel about it now. Caused no damage, but he didnt know that the turnsignal was allready bent  ;DIt ended up being some 15 year old kid, who had taken his dads SUV out for some pizza (bike was parked at a restraunt). So after me and some friends scared the kid with talk of calling the cops, beating his ass, etc, we settled on whatever cash him and his friends had on them, which ended up being $200 ! ;D

Got a few lapdances that night offa that kid  ;D

I am horribile, I know.... ::)

it was my neighbor that hit my bike. I gave hime like 5 feet of room too and stuck the bike out a bit so he could see the tire in his side view mirror. Anyways, he came to my door and confessed. He's a nice old x- hippy so  im gonna be real honest about the cost to repair it.

At least he was good enough to come to you and let you know he did it instead of just leaving.  Shows that he believes is the old rule that if you break something you come good for it.

Bad enough you took his money, then you made him dance for you?
Now I understand - all those girlie pics are to throw us off right? ;)

Sorry about the bike, but at least the guy is going to settle up with you.  I'm always afraid of what I'll come back to when I leave the bike parked all day.  There's kind of an arms race going on in Texas with the dumbasses and their pickups.  First 3/4 ton, now 1 ton crew cab 4X4's are pretty much the starting point if you want to compete.  These things are like 25' long.  I've seen these guys back right over barriers, right into my car, or whatever when they try to maneuver in a parking lot.  They must really need that big diesel to go from their house in the suburbs to their office job though.

This post is exactly why I always park my bike on my sidewalk in front of my house, rather than the street.

If you can maneuver that beast in Chicago (without too much collateral damage), you're OK in my book.  I rented a Neon when I was there.  It was a pain in the balls just to park that thing.

Classic Joe,

Only half joking, I drove a classic xl sloped 84 incher for about 8 months and my back couldn't hack it. I ended up on four months disability, damn that skiing accident!!! ;D I was only driving regional with overnights but the combination of the seat with the bunk did me in. I gotta have a big ol bed to crash in.

I loved that truck even more than the Pete 392 I trained in and that was a sweet tractor. I really miss those days.

Well it is good to hear that they guy owned up. Accidents do happen. I have never had this happen personally and hope it never does. Looks like the bars took the brunt of the hit so this should prove to be an easy fix and a relatively cheap one. Seeing that you have clubmans on it this should also be a fast fix as you dont have to stuff the wires through the bars.

I have some non-related, truck questions (Sorry all, don't mean to hijack!):  What does the raised roof add inside the truck?  Is it just so you can have the upper bunk?  Or is it a good thing to have for headroom?  Also, is there standing headroom in these trucks?  Finally, is there a #$%*ter, or any kitchen facilities in these trucks too?  I had no idea they were this nice inside!

Back on topic-  MT- that sucks about your bike, but as others have said, at least the dude owned up to it.  I bought my truck new in 2003 (2002 model), the only new vehicle I have ever owned.  I usually park way away from everyone else, just so I won't pick up door dings, scrapes, etc.  Not because my truck is expensive or fancy (it's neither), but just to avoid the parking lot rash.  Anyways, one day I was running late at work, and I parked it in the crowded section of the parking lot- wouldn't you know it, a door ding was waiting for me when I got off work- about the size of a nickel, pushed in a little, a couple small scratches in the middle through the color coat.  Some one knew they did this, and yet rolled out without fessing up..

Now I'm back to parking way far away!

Now I'm back to parking way far away!

At least you're thoughtful enough to park in the back of the lot rather than being one of those #$%*s that parks right up front, but takes up two spaces so nobody else can park right next to them.  Luckily I always have #$%*ty cars, so I've been known to SQEEEEZE my car right up next to theirs, like less than an inch away, so there's no way they can get back in through the driver's side.  Did this one time and the driver of the other car and I ended up back out at our cars at the same time.  I just stood there next to my car with keys in hand and watched as he scootched over the passenger seat and shift lever and very carefully backed his car out so as not to scratch it.

Sometimes folks just need to be reminded that there are bigger #$%*s out there! ;D
