Avatar how ?

Ok I've twigged that an avatar is a photograph on the left of your post and you can attach one on the profile page but, , how do you attach one, what size must the original be (pixels ?), can they be changed frequently ?

You can load an avatar via your profile page. Select "Forum Profile Information"

You can also add your bio, location and signature etc.

It must be 128x128 pixels or smaller (Glenn will correct me if I'm wrong).

Anything goes as long as it is not offensive...

Now that you are here and skilled at uploading pictures, why not register with the gallery www.sohc4.net/gallery and post some real pictures of your bikes (and anything else you like in the personal albums)

Put alink to your gallery in your signature...

I know the feeling...I'm too embarassed to show the "old beast" in it's current form...been too worried trying to get it to purr like a kitten that it still looks like an old Bassett Hound!

You shouldn't be embarassed. I wish I had done a before/after series of pictures. You'd get great satisfaction every time you looked at them and I expect quite a few of us started with a bike in the same condition.

Oh, and my wife and I own an old Bassett... careful there.  ;D

Sorry about the Hound comment...perhaps junk yard mutt would have been more appropriate  ;D

Actually I really wish I had done before and after pics when I first started on this bike. Basically at the time I was torn whether to play around with it and use it as a free (well cheaper anyways) education or to scrap/part it out...

I mean this thing was beaten!! Sat outside uncovered for 13 years in Canadian winters!!! Seat had disintegrated, no side covers, gas tank was Black rattlecan rust paint (inside of tank was way worse than the inside!!!). I was shocked that it even turned over! Played around in the driveway for a while (drank many beers!) and low and behold I actually got it fired up!

Now I am working on actually getting it to the point that it is road worthy...sorting out blinker issues, rebuilding brakes etc.

What started out more as a challenge by my buddy who had let the thing rot in his driveway has turned more into a passion...

Spitfire,

This is what I did, when I was in my gallery, I right clicked in the address bar with the address highlighted and clicked copy. Then I just pasted the address in my signature area in the profile.

Those are awesome pics.

I just wish I had more of my bike back in the 70's.  Very few photos survived, those that did are in my gallery!

The only one that's missing is me in 1974 (age 16) on a Raleigh Runabout wearing a Parka and embroidered loon pants!

Well have to confess when I was 16 I had an NSU Quickly ! and between the 250 AJS and the BSA 650 I had a Yamaha 80 (to pass my test). Luckily no photos exist.

Ah yes -  but the raleigh Runabout was faster than the NSU...   8)

(That 2mph really mattered in those days)
