1977 CB750A Questions

Just picked up a 77 CB750A and would like to know how in the world do I change the air filter? Where is it located, how to take it out, etc? Thanks!

Also the bike seems to be leaking fuel when I shut it off, but it only leaks when I put the bike down on the kickstand, when its level the bike does not leak. The leak is coming from just below the fuel on/off switch I believe.

This is covered in your Owner's Manual, if you have one (stashed under the seat).

Otherwise, this site has the Service Manual - give it a download and a good read.  The air cleaner info is on page 4-5.

I caution you NOT to buy a generic air filter, or any filter not provided by your Honda dealer.  There's a LOT of supposed "Honda parts" out there for sale, and some air filters are too restrictive.

I personally recommend a K&N filter, if you need to replace the one you have.

In regards to your fuel - your leakage location (just below the fuel on/off switch) is odd, since the leaning of the bike shouldn't affect that part.  I have a suspicion that the leak is elsewhere.  Give your bike a good looking over, and let us know.

Regardless, I recommend that you get in the habit of closing that fuel valve anytime you shut off the bike.

Sounds good to me, thank you for the information. Do you know where I can locate the service manual for download? I do not have the original owners manual. Thank you!

Also I may have been mistaken, the leak is coming from the plastic box just behind the fuel on/off switch, kind of directly below the seat itself.

Actually, the location of the service manual was (and is) even more obvious than that.

It would seem that the "plastic box" is the air cleaner housing.

If you are leaking fuel from this location, you have one or more carbs leaking fuel internally.

Your carbs are going to need some work.  Are you up for that?  I'm guessing that you'll be hiring that out . . . .

Thank you guys for the iput, will have to get the bike checked out then. The bike runs fine but want to make sure everything is kosher before I take the bike on a decent trip.

Took the bike to a local bike mechanic who has run through the whole bike. I will need to get a carb rebuild kit and would like to know where I can get one, could someone please let me know where to get one. Thanks!

I bought the set from ebay when rebuilding my carbs.  Worked fine.

I recall buying float valves elsewhere - I'll search for that.

You could also try searching KH-0150 in google.  Keyster parts aren't the best though (based on info posted on this site).

Sudco - has accelerator pump parts.  No entire kit.

Z1 Enterprises - no entire kits.

Sirius Consolidated - none in stock.  There catalog number differs from what other sellers offer - can't explain that right now.

Another option is ebay.  Type in "cb750a" and "carb kits".
