ID the Bike for me
« on: November 01, 2011, 04:56:10 PM »
I posted in the for sale area a bike I just picked up.  I posted as a 75 because that is what I thought it would be.  But I'm pretty sure the MC is a 72 550.  Can anyone tell me by the frame S/N   CB550 1017234  Tank is a brown with black on the sides with black, gold, white pin stripes.

They didn't make the 550 until 1974 it was a 500 until then, yours sounds like '74 550 K0

Numbers starting 10 are 1974 but brown was never a colour on the 550

Provide the vin from the steering neck and the engine number from behind the cylinders.  Those can be looked up.  You may have a frankenbike.

Appologies, you are correct that Brown was the only colour for 76, i did not look at the next page in my Honda I.D. book, it was at the end of a long shift tho'!!

Nice bike, the sunburst orange is always my fav. Better than poop brown from 76. That's why I painted mine a different color.
