carby rebuild CB750- Any tips please
« on: November 01, 2011, 10:57:27 PM »
G'day there
Got some carbies here off a 1971 CB750. Engine hasn't run about 30 years so I'll pull apart and clean the carbies before I try and start the engine. Just wondering if there is any hints or tips as to something I should or shouldn't be doing out of the ordinary
Thanks for your thoughts
Scott

Check out the Carb section on the Tips & Tricks page.

Take it easy on the pin post's that hold the float pin. They can get very brittle after all this age and snap off rather easily. Most of your question will be answered reading the Carb FAQ section.

The only thing I might add is have a parts diagram of the carbs handy and don't let the total number of parts make you dizzy. It's really just one carb x 4. I don't know if it was necessary, but I kept all the parts associated with each carb  from my K0 in its own Tupperware container so that they all ended up in the same carb body from whence they came.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

I'll second this, as I snapped a couple of mine and now am in a bad carb place.  I was told (on this forum) to use a heat gun and take your time with the float pins.  Good luck!
