Bent Needle Jet Holder
« on: June 25, 2011, 08:34:58 PM »
Help.

First time rebuilding my carbs and I made a stupid newb mistake and really tightened down the needle jet holder (emulsifier tube as HondaMan calls it) and bent it. Luckily I realized something wasn't right and pulled it, so the other three are fine. But now I have this one oddball tube and I'm worried it will mess me up when I go to set the carbs.

Anybody know where you can purchase one? I haven't have any luck finding them. My bikes a 1975 CB750K by the way.

Don't crank them down to tight.Snug is fine. Luckily you did not crack the fragile alloy carb body that they screw into.

I can see stripping the threads if over tighten but what causes them to bend like that?

Budlite - Glad I'm not the only one to have done that. XD

Bollingball - thanks for the link, but that's not the part I need. I need the main jet holder, the items in Bud's pic(but preferably straight).

As to how it bends, well, it's made of brass, which is a softer metal first of all and second the tube(which bends) is unsupported, so there's give there.

Doh, i just did the sam thing. I'm worried it bent the needle, but since I was working on the carbs while still on the bike I can't see, and would like to avoid taking them off again. Did anyone double check to see if the needle was damaged?

It did'nt seem to bend the needles, I just replaced the tubes and it runs....ok................

I have'nt synced them yet.....mines cold natured, so takes a while to run without a little spittin and sputterin.

I've taken her out for a 60 mile run last week, and she runs fine as long as I don't jump on it hard.

She'll gradually pick up speed, which is ok for me. After all, this is a 36 year old.

I came across a carb set that someone was selling on ebay, for about 40 bucks, thats the way I got replacements. Could have paid 60 to 70 bucks for a set from a honda dealer, but would have only the tubes, this way, I got a set of carbs for other parts in case i may need it.

I'm searching around craigslist for old carb parts at the moment and was wondering if the emulsion tubes are interchangeable from the 750 Ks to the 75-76 750 Fs. Anyone know. The carbs look the same.
