what are you thinking for the tail lights and that area? fab some fresh shapes outta some old tail light lenses maybe? it might look kinda sweet with a rack on the back if you match it to the fender.... you how women like to carry things... like purses

the rear signals are gonna be as tiny as i can find them , the tail light will be on the fender, and the plate will be side mounted ..
...and no front signals

Are you gonna vent the front drum like the others?

Will it hold up to the 500's weight while braking?
I wouldn't think the weight would be much different, but there's probably a big difference in performance compared to a disc.

Oh, I agree, the guages do stand a little too tall.

i like looking at the polished stuff right next to unpolished stuff (outter hub vs inner hub) ..for a nice before and after .. that hub was so god damn crusty i didn't polish as deep as i could have, i was getting really sick of wet sanding it

so originally this pattern had a lot more symmetry to it , but a few holes got outta line (from the drill bit walking) .. and that threw off the whole pattern ... so i just "swiss cheesed" it .... haven't decided if i'm gonna replace it and try again , or just rock it like that .... it doesn't look bad, just not the plan, ya know

so i ended up having to scrap the old mount and start over ... well worth it i think

i've got something special in mind for the headlight mounting , but it should sit right about there when done

and finally , my stupid question for the day ... how the hell am i suppose to get that break cable off

.... i mean i'm not retarded ... what the #$%* is the trick i CANT figure it out , and i'm about to just cut it off

I have no idea about that brake cable, but I wouldn't cut it. I bet it's really pricey. It looks like it has to come outta that slit in the brake panel. Did you loosen it all the way at the lever. And also the two nuts by the brake panel? Or it should slide in/out where the spring is on the bottom. Or maybe just cut it off

Be careful about grinding or sanding structural welds. The raised profile area of a weld has a lot to do with its strength.

Step back and look at it again.

Drop the wheel off of the forks. Once you have both of the brake arms off, me thinkin' you can create enough slack in the cable to get the cable out. Somehow that cable has to slide through that slit.

Hopefully I am seeing what you are talking about.

I was thinking something almost hidden behind the tail light but strong enough to hold a small bag...... I'll see if I can draw up what I mean

don't worry brother it's all good , this ain't my first rodeo , i just took a tiny bit off of the crown, and will fill the rest with putty

and the handlebars are structural grade tubing , 1/4" thick , i could get 50% penetration and they would still be strong enough to jack up my pick up truck... let alone withstand the forces of being handlebars , thanx tho

....and no they are just tacked together , haven't done the finish welds yet

i was just thinking right before stumbling across this thread we work in metal so much why not shape some plastic to be custom also

not really slow at work , i do most of it on break ...and i'm very sneaky

i've been workin on it for about two weeks, here and there bringin it back and forth from work to home , .... i think my next big tool purchase is gonna be a torch , then i can do it all at home .
i would love to get it all chromed , but that would probly break the bank
