It's no wonder the Ausie army are crap :D

They eat better  ;D. In the USMC we ate what was more described as crap or snack food. MRE= Meals refused by Ethiopians, Meals Ready to Exit, Meals Refusing to Exist, and the list goes on.

Too true Tom, when I was wearing a green beret I worked with your guys a little, and we called their rations "Meals Ready to Excrete", ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

How right you are Terry.   I've had some of those myself, I'm not proud to say.
If you want a real "not cool" feeling, eat something like the dehydrated strawberries dry
(kinda like strawberry flavored Styrofoam) and take a drink, of anything, shortly afterwards.
Talk about an active stomach!! We called the MREs Junk Food in a Bag! The only GOOD thing
about them was that, you could put several of them in the big pockets of the Camo pants.

Now dont get me wrong. There are a few that are good. I was frequently accused of trading my junk MRE's for the less nasty ones. Plus I horded the ones that most like and sold them. CHA CHING $$ ;D $$

But at least the USMC never subjected the men to Vegemite. Never saw the stuff till I ferried Aussies around the bush. After that I knew what keeping your S**t together really meant. :o

When we went to the field and they passed out the MREs, little did they know that (Being the
Motor Sgt) I had my stash of iced down Mountain Dew (& other soft drinks), Vienna Sausage &
Beanie Weenies. Plus, my cousin was the Mess Sgt. and we got what we could from him in
exchange for favors. Needless to say, we (in the Motor Pool) didn't do too bad.

Er, what kinda "favors" Bill? Not er, "sexual" favors, I hope? You were Air Force, weren't you? Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Aw right Aw right out of the gutter guys. I made sure the cooks had transportation and whenever items like steaks, pork chops or such as that, were available, we got them. And yes Terry, this was in the Army Reserves. You see, I spent a 6yr hitch in the active Air Force and after a 2yr break, I spent 23 yrs in the Army Reserves.  Sorry Mate,       Bill

Ha ha, Just messing with ya Bill, good luck with those boys, if you get a chance go and see a movie called "The Ringer", about a guy who pretends to be mentally impaired so he can rig the Special Olympics.

I didn't want to go at first because I was worried that it would make fun of "special needs" people, but in fact it was really well made using mostly "special" actors, and I laughed myself silly, while developing a whole new respect for these people. Cheers, Terry. ;D
