Rear suspension
« on: May 17, 2006, 06:14:03 PM »
Rear suspension is shot and Im looking to replace it with some brand new ones. What are my options? Seems to me that any shock would fit but I doubt its that easy. Any idea?

I have a 1975 CB200T.

I'd take a look at the Hagon shocks.

How much have you "invested" in the 200?  Great shocks cost big money (Koni/Ikons etc), Hagons are about £100 (UK) but you can get much cheaper (half that) replacements if you shop around and are not too fussed about "brand"

I have Hagons on my 500/4 - chalk and cheese!!

Ive invested about around $500 into the bike. Price really isnt an issue, I want to make this bike nice.

It depends where you are in the world ( why dont people put their general area, or at least country?) 200 is always going to be low powered and never going to handle like a modern bike. In US, you can get shocks from JC Whitney to fit cheap.

Not looking to make my bike handle like a modern bike. Just want a decent suspension. The current stock springs are shot and the bike bottoms out.

I actually found the US distributor for Hagon Shocks so Im probably going to get me a set of those.

I replaced rear shocks on my 550 with a set from a CL350. seems to have softened the excessively stiff ride a bit. (of course I'm only about 150 pounds)

I'm 150 lbs too. I have the Hagons set to the softest setting.

Unfortunately, when I carry a passenger, the centre stand grounds on right handers.

Used to have a Suzuki with that issue. (83 GS450E) Damn I miss that bike! :'( never should have sold it! >:( The lesson learned is bigger is not better! It was traded to go to a touring bike. Found that the big bike was so much trouble to get out that it cut my riding down out of inconvenience!
