PD41A's on a K6
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:53:31 PM »
The carbs on my '76K are shot from corroded jet towers.  I have a really nice set of PD41A's I'd like to use.  Aside from needing a choke cable assembly, will these run okay on my bike?  Will they work with my early air box?  Will the jets from the old carbs work in these?  If the older jets will work, I can choose from (mains) 100's, 105's, and 120's.

Thanks Guys

Gregg,
I replaced the older style carbs on my '71 500 with PD carbs off a '78. Not a 750, I know. But for sure, the pilot jets in the PD carbs are specific to those carbs - pressed in. I've forgotten whether the main jets are the same style or not. The insulators and clamps for your old carbs will need to be changed to those for the PD carbs, and maybe the air box rubbers, too. On the 500, I needed to change all of that stuff over from the '78 550K donor bike and plug off one of the petcock's fuel outlets. But the end result is that it does run on the PD carbs, and much smoother than with the originals. Installation of the choke cable is no problem.
