My 1973 Cb750! Hello from Indiana
« on: October 28, 2011, 03:56:25 PM »
Hello everyone!

Well after years of wanting a bike I finally got my dream bike. A 70's CB750four. I have wanted one ever since I saw my first one. Well I finally got one! It's actually a pretty cool story, so feel free to keep reading or scroll to the bottom for the pics!

It all started about 5 months ago. My dad is a realtor and one day he gave me a call. He said this house he is selling has a bike for sale. It was a 1982 Honda Goldwing. I definitely wasn't in the market for a goldwing but it was such a good deal I had to pick it up! I loved riding it and drove it all the time. Well one day I was cruising Craigslist when I stumbled upon an ad wanting to sell his 750 or trade for a goldwing. I thought eh what the heck I'll shoot him a message. Well he calls me and we decide to meet up. Came home that day with a new bike! My dream bike!

So without further ado here is my bike as it sits today (literally took the pics today :p)

But first my Goldwing which I traded. (bad picture sorry!)

It ran great but cosmetically a little rough.

And now here is the 750

I love it!

I lowered a couple inches, straight bar, 4 into 1 exhaust, new seat, lots of cleaning/polishing/replacing. Overall I'm super happy with how it looks.

Welcome Charlie...nice find for you. This is the spot to be if you have a SOHC.  Being your first post you did well in that we really like pics here. Very nice looking bike you have there. From the pics that paint looks mint. I bet you get some great looks from envious people. What are your future plans for it? By looking at the tank graphics it appears you have a 1972 K2 titled as a 1973. Take a look on the neck of the bike near the steering head and you will find a date code month and year. That will tell you when it was built. Here is a site that will give you more info:

Thanks for the welcome! I spent a lot of time cleaning it up and getting the chrome looking good and the paint looking good. I was fortunate to have a good start! I've had it for a couple months now and just tried to enjoy it while the weather was still warm. I don't know what plans I have for it yet I did the main things I wanted first. Rebuilt the carbs, cleaned engine, 4 into 1 exhaust, lowered, new seat/ handle bars and she is good to go! I'm thinking of picking up a fairing for those interstate drives. That wind can wear you out.

As for the year... That is interesting I'll have to take another look. I know the vin on the engine indicates it is a 73 I will have to check the frame.

She is in great shape, I have a friend who works at an upholstry shop so I got the seat made from them I like it! I think I like the stock seat better looks wise but this one is great too. The 750 has just over 20,000 miles.

Future plans are unknown other than love the heck out of it and riding it. I plan on keeping it for...... well forever! It is the bike I've always wanted. I hope to get lots of ideas from the forum here and go from there!

So after further investigation I actually have a '72 who knew! haha the title said 73 so I assumed but the build date on the frame is 07/72 and my vin on the frame/motor both suggest 72 as well. The vin on the title matches the frame vin. Is this a big deal? Should I go through the hassle of getting my title corrected? Or just leave it as is.

Anyway I was happy to get a couple days of good riding in while the  weather was oddly warm! Two days ago it was 70 degrees. Today it snowed. Ohhh Indiana
