Topic: '78 750F - wiring harness routing

does anyone have a nice pic of how the harness should be run and fastened down? i neglected to take one before i pulled mine and i'm sure i can figure it out - but it'd be nice to see the proper way so i know it's going back in properly.

Here's a few pics before I put the fasteners on, but just add a couple to the top frame tube and one to the down tube by the electrics panel and it's complete.  Not shown is the section that leads to the rear brake switch and points connectors, there is a metal tang on the front of the battery box that holds the wiring as it passes through the frame and I add another fastener two the downtube at the brake switch.

Guess I should add that I routed this a year ago and memory is hazy as to whether the battery box tang was for the earth lead or brake switch wiring. More coffee needed

Sean,  Where'd you get that clip on the lower triple tree clamp?  I just let my harness hang down from the clip by the coils and come back up behind the brake splitter.  Sure would like to have one of those clips.

   Clip was there when I got the bike(low mileage 78 750F). Clip was missing from both of the high mileage bikes I got later. The clip in the photo has gone missing after only 3500 miles on the rebuild so now I'm hangin' just like you. If I find another one it will get a liberal slathering of loktite.

   Don't know if holding the harness was its intended purpose, just assuming it is so. The fact that it is now missing from all three of my bikes leads me to believe that it is indeed the intended purpose and that back and forth motion of the trees puts tension on the clip which ultimately loosens the bolt and causes it to fall out.

I looked it up, and it's for the harness.  It's probably discontinued.  I tried to order a clip for the neutral switch wire, and it's discontinued.  If you find two....

Don't know if you have a copy of the F2 shop manual in PDF format.... this page is contained therein... hope it helps!

thanks for the help - it's going to be a bit before i can route the cable - need to undo the hack-job a previous owner did to the signal wiring, going to take a while to tap it out.

i dont have a copy of that pdf manual - but i would like one... the links for 750 manuals in the FAQ are dead - anyone want to hook me up with that K8-F3 manual?

interestingly enough, my bike has over 75 000 kilometers on it and i still have that hanger... lucky in that respect, i suppose. i'd rather have an intact harness, though - given the choice.
