howdy y'all, funny story..
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:57:18 PM »
So I'm new here but not at all to bikes. been riding pretty much full-time for the past 12 years, on a multitude of bikes, from an fxr150 to a TL1000s, and all kinds of iffy machines in between. got into modifying them when I crashed my VFR400R NC21 a couple times (one the kickstand didn't come up and threw me off, the other it slipped at a set of lights on some gravel and diesel), but recently have found a real passion for older aircooled bikes. my last two were in fact SOHC singles, big change from the '86 GSXR750 and TL1000s before that! one was a junker and ended up getting sold for less than half of what I paid for it (seller failed to tell me the big end bearing was due to blow) and the second got converted into a nice little cafe which with a little bit of tuning became quite the little commuter weapon. Right now I'm hoping to get my hands on a CB200 which will be getting a similar treatment, will keep you posted on that in any case..

anyway a little more about me; I'm 27, just started an apprenticeship in barbering (very cool industry), love all kinds of music but massive on metal or things with a lot of melody, bit of an artist (if you google my username you'll find my deviantart page, haven't updated it in a little while though) and live for bikes. Its so bad I can tell the make, model and general year of a bike from the headlight, tail light or engine noise..

I'm glad to have found this place, will be asking a lot of questions regarding the CB200 if I get it as its a whole new kinda area for me (points instead of electrics etc)

I'll upload some pics of my past projects and bikes at some point too :)

Well Howdy.   :)

You might have gotten a quicker welcome if you had mentioned that you owned a SOHC four-cylinder bike. ;)

But we're friendly folks just the same.

Maybe the story wasn't funny?
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

admittedly the story was pretty so-so. I don't yet own a honda SOHC-4 but I'm always on the lookout for one, after riding a 350F a few years back. what a bloody hoot.

I'm from NZ, little city called New Plymouth, but I currently reside in Brisbane Australia. pretty nice place, apart from having 18 of the 20 deadliest animals living here....
