Hi Peter, really nothing to do with which product you choose but just something on wifi. I would NEVER do anything secure using wifi, no Internet banking of any kind at all. There are big security issues with wifi, being an open signal, anyone can tap into your system and take over your accounts, it really is that simple. I had a guy  show me how easy it was an it blew me away, {he didn't steal anything} he is a computer tech and was talking to me about Internet banking because i refuse to do it and was talking to me about good anti virus {which i have} and the best ways to get around the banking issues. Regardless of what he said i still refuse to put my banking details online....
in general, i agree with what you've said, but there are ways of securing your wifi beinning with your router.  for mobile devices i've read good things about this vpn tool (i've provided a link to their faq):

as always YMMV

After seeing how easy it is to access someone else's wifi and knowing a couple of very clever computer tech's i won't be going that route ever.....  It seems the hackers are evolving faster than the technology...

You bet. Despite the title, read "America the Vulnerable." It's applicable to every country and every Internet connected device. Scary!  :o
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

If you are interested in getting an iPad I know someone who can get hold of them through a contact. These are legit, not off the back of a truck; they are from a canceled Hospital contract due to the Government cutbacks.  The numbers are limited - he has twenty iPads going for less than half price so it's first come first served.  He has already sold one (pic is below so you can see what you are getting).   Get back to me as quick as you can if you want one.   Full spec is below...........

I went with the Kindle Fire. Looks like it will do everything I need/want (and most of what the ipad will do. Well, the functions we would actually USE) and was less than half price.
It's a Christmas gift, so I'll let you know how it works in a month or so!
