I think Hondawggie has a point, check tt's example. That bike looks really good and didn't get a bid. He could have sold it elsewhere who knows.

I think $3000 is a little much since everything is apart.  Granted you could sell parts "after" the build but a lot of overhead IMO.

When you see this you have to think different.

Thats my point, we used to buy 750 Honda's before the "retro" craze took off here, my boss was Japanese and we were getting 10 grand for clean bikes sent to Japan in the 1980's. What is wrong with buying it, putting it together and offering it for sale over seas..?
I buy most of my parts overseas because our "ride all year round" weather keeps our market strong. I could only find one for sale here in that model and it is advertised for 10 grand. The rest of the spares would also get good money in the right market place...

Man there are a lot of folks who would love more buyers right now, maybe its the shipping cost, unless its a high demand like a sandcast the regular bikes dont sell well right now, such as an RD400 I picked up a '77 rd400 few months back a runner with a very good condition French Blue tank and side covers and paid $650, 3 to 4 years back that would have been impossible, you guys would freak about the good deals here created by the weak job market, that guy RB in the UK who used to come over I dont think even he does that any more he used to come over fill up a shipping crate of bikes take 'em back to the UK  if not for the shipping we could sell our stuff here, a guy I know just sold a very good condition '91 Vulcan 750 for $125 a running titled bike only 21 k miles it is different here (for now) unfortunately.  I was going to move to Australia but was told so many people are trying to move there they clamped down on it now

There are some comments there suggesting that if China closes shop our economy will die, we are much more diverse than that, our market is Asia in general, we have massive contracts all over Asia, it would take a huge downturn in a lot of places before we get any where near the problems that you guys have, Why do you think Obama is down this way trying to drum up business.....
There are guys everywhere here setting up import companies and bringing in cars and bikes by the boat load...
Our banks are run differently here as well, their profits are more reliant on fees and charges rather than throwing money at people that can't afford it...

Well, politics wise, a lot of what your Government does effects the rest of the world in one way or another. We are also a young country and are schooled on world politics and events as our own history is kind of short, seems a lot of Americans don't know a great deal about the rest of the world or don't care too,  thats not intended as a slur, just an observation... I have an inquisitive mind and read a hell of a lot....Come down our way for a visit and you'll see how much we get American stuff jammed down our throats, TV shows, news, even bloody early morning evangelists {please take them back  :o}, sport and last but not least, music {which i am extremely grateful for  ;)}. Never been there{USA} but i wouldn't mind doing a SOHC discovery tour some time, problem is, i would come home with a bloody big container full of bikes..... Is that really a problem...?  ;D

Actually $3000 isnt a all that bad price.  its retail and we as a whole are kinda cheap here.....lol

The bikes do bring good money but its a not really something that sells well on ebay.  its more of a quite private sale kind of thing

I just bought a 82 prolink because i could not say no.  wish i could have bought a early twin shock bike.

If you REALLY want a CBX then its not a bad deal, but if you are looking for something to put some time and money into and flip for a profit then its not that great of an idea.

Also its really hard to compare prices on used bikes.
EVERYONE has some story of getting a mint bike for no money....the trick is to be in touch with what the real value of something is and to understand the difference between value and a deal that we got.

I bought this for $500
is that really what it is worth?  No.

Jag, I didn't find it.  It was offered to me from a best friend of mine.  He wanted a  AK-47 and all the accessories that i had with it.  An even trade to me.  I'd sell the Hilborn injectors and the pump for $ 1,000.00
plus shipping.  It is designed specificly for the CB750.

Me? Nope.

He can keep it unless I sell my CB 350 G. Then I might call him.

Yeah, you're much better off with this low mileage bike.  Shoot 'em an offer.

Time to revive this topic.

Yuppers, I found one 20 miles from me! Not the early years but a CBX none the less. Titled, running although a little rough. We can work that out.  ;)

Bike is complete. Clear coat on tank needs redone. Gas tank was sealed at some point. Purchased from a very nice gentleman today.

This will be put on hold until this November. I received a factory service manual with the bike so I need to read and research. (and become close friends with jaguar  8))

No hacking, all stock.

Enjoy.

Congrats!
I have learned that the CBX needs only two things.....but needs lots of it......$$$ and time....lol

After getting into the carbs i realized i should have just paid the $500 to have it done....
I wound up with a sticking valve so the head is off right now but should be back on next week.

If you dont mind me asking what did you pay?
Cool front brace

Yes, I bought it!

Cancelled guzzi. Long story. To many dealer fees. It's all good.
