I got a favor. I'll leave it at that.  ;)

Actually Steve it is not all that pricey. Valve cover runs around $125.00. It's a lot of cover too!

Great news yesterday! VISA raised my credit limit!  8)

Actually they didn't but it wouldn't hurt. My parts are finally shipping today (ordered April 29 TH but kept adding parts), powder coating is on it's way and hoping the ceramic coating ships this week.

Mike Nixon sent me a progress report on the carburetors with an estimate of cost.  :'(  Shush! Better hide this from the other half!  ::) Actually they are taking quite a bit of work.

You can few progress here:

(the red x works if you click on it)

Progressive front fork springs arrived first of week. New oil cooler lines installed but everything is waiting on something else.

Ran into the first non OEM modification while rebuilding the front fairing. I noticed some relays and wiring that was not OEM.

Decided to dig a little deeper since this project is on the dining room table. To hot out in the shop.  ;)

As you can see running a wire directly off the BATT. side of the relay into another set of high/low relays then to the headlight is a good way to burn a CBX right to the ground.  ::)

Picture is the bulb rated at 90/100 watts. OEM is 55/60 watts.

Here is the front wiring harness. Have to pick up another connector or at best a complete front harness. Another delay while shopping for the part. Don't think this will work anymore.  :(

On the dining table? You must have a nice wife!

Actually she has been in the Phoenix Hospital for eight days. Was hospitalized early in July also. Getting better as she is a transplant patent so they are keeping an eye on her kidney. 12 years old now.

I tried to convince her to let me just bring everything into the dining room but it was a no go.  ::)  We don't use it anyway.

It was 110 degrees at 0900 hrs and at 1130 hrs. it's 116 on my patio. Garage gets to 100 or more by late afternoon so working inside is nice to say the least.

Still working on the front wiring harness as I have no power to the headlights. According to the wiring diagram I suspect the issue is in the picture. Green wire is a ground but as you can see it is not to the center tang in the socket which should be ground. The white wire is in the center.  ::)

It's the only thing amuck I have found on the bike.

Getting there, one dollar at a time.  ;)

116 is a little hot, "only" 100 here today.  Hope your wife is back home soon.

Yes, I hope she is doing great. Staying in the hospital is not fun. I know from personal experience.    :(   As for the heat..... I think it's time to go under ground like the Australians do in Coober Pedy   ;D

90/100 watts
that's a off road bulb, never should have been put in a regular housing it's just not meant to be on all the time.
Still if that's the only PO problem you find your doing well. ;)

Best wishes for your misses, I hope she's out soon.

Thank you. I bought a complete fairing harness on flea bay. Just going to swap it out. That's how I roll.

Going to the tinters tomorrow and get either the whole wind screen done in limo tint or maybe just within the top 4 inches. Should look great.  ;)

That is the best avatar I have ever seen!  8)

Properly wired the 90/100 might not be a problem for the bulb but the housing wasn't designed for it. Sorry you found a brown white wire where a green should have been.

Best kind of bike to buy is one where someone like you has gone through it and made it all restored and like new again.

Well, another four hours working on the fairing this morning. There were a few coffee breaks.  ;)

The PO at one time decided to just silicone the instruments into the dash.  ::)

They use a rear mount bracket and collar. I had a spare set of instruments and used the brackets and nuts.

The clock was much worse but you get the idea. Lower left is the proper bracket.

In order to mount the brackets you have to grind them down because the upper fairing stay is in the way. Grind, fit, grind fit. AhHa! Fits. Now to get those tiny washers and 7 mm nuts on the back. After dropping them a few hundred times I finally got it. What a PIA! Sounded like the Navy was here.

Replaced the bulbs because I will never change them again. You need a five year old to get in there! My hand looks like it was in a cat fight!  ;)

Removing the dried silicone was fun too!  ::) Now, back to the harness.

Tell me! Boy, saw a rear luggage rack in black sell for $192.00.  :o

I'll sell you my extra clock and altimeter but without the mounting brackets, you would have to improvise. The altimeter is nice, clock face yellowed. Was told it worked but not tested. I can plug it into the front harness in the morning and find out however.

Do you buy chance have your fairing off? I'm trying to figure out the fairing harness wiring. My thread is over in the CBX forum.

When PO's go to aftermarket your left with a puzzle. I "think" I have it figured out but want clarification first before I burn the whole thing up.  ;)

Could be interested in those gauges, but funds are going to some other CBX goodies right now, you will flip when you see them...

My fairing is off.
What do you need to know?

There not going anywhere. Give me $40.00 plus some ship. That's all I have in them but remember, no rear mounting brackets.

I FIGURED IT OUT! Yippie ka aa..who hoo!  :) :) :)

There is a four (4) point connector with a blue and white wire. These are hot, white for low beam, blue for high.

There is also a blue and white wire coming from the top of the nine (9) pin connector. This lead is connected to your starter switch. When you hook them together you have power to the bulb. Completes the circiut.

When you hit the starter button the power does not go to the headlight until it starts.

What threw me off is the fact that all four (4) leads had female plugs. Well, they went into a high and low relay (aftermarket) with all male connections. This four pin connector was supplied in the kit as the factory connector is probably long gone.

I just have to solder in two (2) male connectors and VOLA! You can see it in the picture labeled four (4) pin connector.

Man, that was bugging the shid out of me!  ::)

OH LORDY!  :o

My..my Jag!

I tested the clock and it works just fine. They are not going anywhere so you know where they are if you need them.

Need anything else? Getting a few extra parts in this build. Just let me know. E-mail works best.

Will have a clean Clearview wind screen model GT 23 in gray tint. No longer available in this height. Meausures 23.5 high. Great screen for the open road. I went back to stock height.

Thats actually a good price from my limited understanding of aftermarket carbs for a CBX
Saw flat slides for 3700 once
