That 82 in PHX has been for sale for 6 to 8 months that I know of. Yes, a lot to get them back to orginal, or as near as, condition. I keep track of my costs but have quit looking at it.  ;D

Jag stole his.  :(

Example? Actually it was $55.00 higher than this estimate.

Being back east he can find those infrequent killer deals. They arent as common out here.
Is it MoMo who bought a great place with monster garage/barn recently. He finds those killer deals often too.

Agree. Harder to find deals here and motorcycles that have not sat out in the sun. Boy, the sun just rots everything huh?

Looks pretty rough however parts are worth three times his asking price.

If shipping were not involved I might consider buying it.  ;)

Maybe Steve-o has some extra room for storage.  ::)

It is not possible to have that kind of corrosion without it being outside for some period.

Yes, very humid in Hou, only 50 miles from the Gulf.

Things are moving right along. Shipped rotors to TrueDisk yesterday, have the front tire to get mounted and today I tore apart the forks, cleaned several parts and reassembled forks with new seals, dust covers and lower washers with new bolts. I always replace the lower tube bolts for some reason.  ::) Installed a new set of Progressive springs with 7.5 wt. fork oil.

Tomorrow I'll bolt on the top air hose with new seals, torque the forks, handlebars and install front fender. When the rotors return it's pretty much install the front wheel, calipers, bleed brakes, adjust cables, new levers and grips and fire this puppy up!  8)

I'm getting "real" excited now!  ;)

What does true disk cost and other than surfacing/deglazing/truing are they doing anything else?

Other than painting that's about it. Just got an email from Tom. Said the paint is excellent. The rear rotor turned in one (1) day @ $60.00 with ship.

I wanted to add that the fronts are stainless steel rotors that were designed by Honda's automotive division.

I'll post up when they arrive.

The rotors showed up on Saturday. Beautiful job by True Disc. $45.00 each plus return ship.

The front end is now done. Still have to rebuild the master cylinder, install new plug wires and waiting on some odds and ends from Honda.

Should be on the road by the end of the month, just in time for great riding in Arizona.  ;)

Rotors look great

On a side note, next time you hear me say "Im a professional mechanic that worked on aircraft and rabble rabble rabble....I can rebuild the CBX carbs myself and dont need to pay someone to do it" again....just hit me please

These things are driving me nuts.  Almost finished but it just seems like one thing after another.

I hear you! I was going to have a local guy do it but decided after I bought the kits and such, paid the labor it was just easier to send them in. Add to that the amount of work to remove them "if" something was amiss was more than I wanted to deal with. Call it peace of mind.

My hat is off to you for giving it a go.  ;)

The rotors are fantastic. Cheap enough. When I was riding the CBX I had to make a "quick" stop. Boy, that was interesting! Wrong pads were on it, dirty fluid and rough rotors. Should make a big difference now! Master cylinder getting rebuilt.

Here is what I was told by True Disk. Might want to jot in down in the service manual.

You'll want to use organic pads on the re-machined discs.

EBC is the brand of choice. The FA-69 pad is 10mm thick (each), the FA-69/2 is 9mm and the FA-69/3 is 11mm.

I'd use the FA-69/2 for the front and FA-69 for the rears

After all, you have to stop sometimes.  ;D

"Let's twist again, like we did last summer"..I have some new OEM wires on the way and new caps are already here. The coils and wire are not one piece but threaded. Pretty straight forward here but at the caps?

My question is: How much to twist? Appears you could go to far so just until snug?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, just until they are snug, too far and they  start bending the wire up. Solid copper wire or carbon core?

Thanks. Snug them up. Shipping today so Monday I can replace the wires with new as well as the caps. Once I get the filter cover back (nightmare) I can put in some Amsoil and fire this baby up!  ;)

OEM wire correct for year so I would assume copper.

I have no oil filter cover at the present time. First one broken by USPS. Sent another. JR tried to straighten out a fin. Broke it. Have another being done but  QC Coatings only coat on Wednesday's. Didn't get done last week. Wait for this week plus ship time equals next week.

Been a month.  :'(

More delay!  :(

Oil cover won't get done until next Friday plus shipping time. Master cylinder not done yet. To top it off Honda lists two (2) petcocks for the 82 CBX.  ::) Guess which one I have? Another special order I'm sure!  :'(

So, wanted to stare at something different . A little mock up. It's almost there. Almost.

Petcock is about $100
I use Honda-parts direct for most of my OEM needs

On CBX world there is a thread about making the OEM CBX petcock rebuildable using suzuki $4 gaskets in much the same way that the CB750 petcock is rebuildable.  Im doing that to mine
