Crank Bearing questions
« on: November 16, 2011, 07:28:42 AM »
I am tearing apart my 78 750f and am thinking about replacing the bearings.  I notices that one of them has a hair line scratch in it that I can feel with my finger nail.  I noticed that most of the bearings are green in color.  Do I just order up a set of greens or do I need to measure the sizes and use the chart to get the colors.  The bike had 31000 miles on it.

Thanks,

There are 5 letters on the underside of the top front half of the cases.

Like this

There are also 5 letters stamped (scratched) on the crank.  You need to match up these two numbers and see what color of bearings the two letters together equal.  There is a chart in the manual  for this..

Bearings
13315-425-003 A - black
13316-425-003 B - brown
13317-425-003 C - green
13318-425-003 D - yellow

Thanks the case as all b's on it I will have to look at the crank again.  I didn't see any numbers on it.  I guess I can mic them to get the size if the scratch is gone.

Thanks again.

Sure enough the letters are on the crank.  I had to get a flash light to see them.  It looks like they are all A's so a set of greens are the correct bearings.
