Besides my K3 bike, I also own a Road King Harley. Had to replace the front fender last month( damaged by a "new rider", hitting it with her bike), which I had the local Harley dealer do for me. After a couple days the right front brake/rotor started making dragging noise's, which I messed around with a couple times trying to fix the (irritating) noise. After riding the thing for a month with the noise getting gradually louder, last week I noticed that the lower fork cap that retains the front axle, on the right side, was missing! The two long bolts that hold the axle had lost their nuts/lock washers, and the axle was only being held on by the left side axle mount. Quite a supprise, and kinda scary. Never have heard of this happening to anyone I know(or don't know, either). I think I have been riding with a loose axle cap/mount for over a month, and never noticed it. The Harley dealer wasn't too happy to hear about it, since they did the work on it, but they came and got it the next day, fixed it, and brought it home for free. It's all better now, but now I have one more thing to think/worry about while riding. Apparently, Harley makes a very strong axle for their touring bikes, which I very much appreciate. Not a bad thing to check, occasionally, for peace of mind.
