400f header pipe on a 350f
« on: May 07, 2005, 06:05:27 PM »
I have asked if the (header portion only) would fit from a 400f to a 350f before.the answer I got was a definate YES. after talking to my local cycle shop, the guy there said he tried this swap and it is a definate NO.Now I am asking once again if it can be done.Has anyone actually done it?or do you just think you know. If its the latter please do not answer this question .Please only answer If you have done this. What if any mods needed to be done? cheers, Jeff.

The short answer is yes.  I don't know what the other guy's experience was but I have a 400F header pipe on my 350F.  Two of the pipes are clamped to the header to allow alignment.  It clears the oil filter, centerstand, etc. & fits as if it were original equipment.  I'm using a Supertrapp muffler so had to make a stay to attach it to the frame.  Also needed to make a small stop bracket for the center stand to keep it from flopping as it previously fitted up against the left, bottom exhaust, now gone.
