If your are having trouble moving the bike around with a stuck front brake, just take a rubber hammer and give the caliper a few smacks on the outside of the caliper round area. That should free it up until you pull the handle again. If it does now work you can always loosing the 2 allen bolts to free up the wheel.

Agreed with the above, don't get rid of that paint job! I would buy all that and love that paint job :) I'm somewhat of a 70's style nut (even though I missed the 70s by quite a while).

And where at in NC? If you're near Raleigh, let me know, I'm looking for some other SOHC guys around here, all my mechanically-inclined friends are car guys.
Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems.

Thanks Johnie for the tip...that's perfect for moving it around for now until i rebuild it.

buffaloejon, I'm in Apex, just outside of Raleigh. Yeah same here only got one friend with a bike and he's got a harley.

Thanks Fuzzie, yeah it was for me at first as I backed out last week. But after finding out it was clean, I couldn't help myself. BTW your icon is cracking me up:)

I'm in Advance,NC just west of Winston-Salem.
I'm more into the cb750 choppers/bobbers. Here is another site to check for info and you don't have to have a chopper to be part of the group, as long as it' a cb750,  HONDACHOPPER.COM

We have a meet every year in june at Riders Roost Campground near Lenoir,NC.
Get on the site and join up.. Lots of fun and info.

These sohc 750's are great bikes imhybb, you will really enjoy it. With these old Honda's if it ain't broke don't fix it. Give it a good cleaning and replace and repair what it needs so it's safe and reliable and your good to go. That's what I've done with both my 750's and so far neither one has left me stranded. Looks like you've got a good solid CB that's just needs some TLC ;) Some more pics when you get a chance. By the way I'm in Greensboro, a hour or so from you 8)

Hey nice K1... I love that paint. I have a K1 and I keep both tanks, the 70's retro WOW groovy painted with Mt. Fuji and the rising sun in honor of my bikes Japanese market heritage, and the original Polynesian Blue with gold stripe. Its fun to switch it up and have some different looks. I have an extra tank form a 71 I'd be willing to part with cheap for you to try your hand at. PM me if you are interested.

Excellent find lmhybb (could you pick a harder name to respell?) ... I like the paint, but I did too much acid in my day.   ;D

cafes are becoming a dime a dozen and classics are becoming rarer.

Except every cafe is different so that's not exactly true, and my cafe is still a classic.  I'm not sure what some people have against a little customization.  The 350f is not the best looking bike in stock form IMO, but with a few tweaks, like lower bars and mirrors that don't look like mickey mouse ears, I love it!  And sometimes, people don't want to spend 3 paychecks on a NOS stock exhaust, so they get what they can afford, besides, I think mine looks better.  Aside from that, I could have mine back to stock, except for paint, in a jiffy.  Bars, mirrors, seat and rear fender and magically its a sick looking bike that is frowned upon by many here.  No worries, you didn't hurt my feelings or anything, to each their own.

IMHBBY Congrats on the bike... I'm almost there. Going to look at/ pick up a scoot tomorrow. (78' CB750F)
Heffay...Now I want to see your bike. I like a little customization! ( ;

You are on the track with your plan,  here is something I learned bringing the 70 back on the road.  You can mess with the carbs and clean them and what not, but buying new jets, needles and carburetor boots really got the bike rolling.  My jets seemed cleaned and OK, but first time I put new ones in, she started right up and run and idled nicely even before synchro.

Also, not sure where you stand, but I replaced coils and cables and points with aftermarket and electronic ignition.  It was easy choice, since the cables were shot dead - but getting rid of points is IMHO the way to go.

BTW I have similar background - my daily driver is 86CJ7 - done frame up on it 2 years back;  the nice thing on motorcycles is that everything is decent much smaller than off road trucks.

Good luck with it and post pictures,  that's what this forum wants:)

Welcome and congratulations - very nice CB750! It would be great if you good save the paint job by swapping the parts with others on the board. And, welcome to the world on SOHC4's, your life is forever changed.
Cliff.
