APOCALYPSE
« on: November 17, 2011, 10:14:41 AM »
begin message
The apocalypse just hit the fan and I'm wondering what I should take... Gear and Transpo?

The mormon's are s'posed to keep an end of the world bunker, I'm not gonna die in a wine cellar.  We need to PREPARE NOW!  If the zombies came to my house now, I'd be fubar'd.

I'd rather take a motorcycle, but is that really the smartest choice?
I love canned tuna, but won't the smell attract them?  Them being zombies, or...

SOS what would you bring

S&W model 3914 9mm
1000 rds 9mm hollowpoints/4 mags
Beretta 12 ga. semi auto
250 rds 12 ga. ammunition (assorted)
Multi-tool and Kershaw
B.O.B. with MRE's, camp stove, fuel, water, assorted toiletries, flashlight, tarp, bed roll, socks, undies, rain gear, blah blah blah, standard B.O.B. stuff
Debating whether to take the CB750, the 883, the truck, or the Audi.  Would be a lot easier decision if I had a dual sport.  Truck's always nice though. Versatile.

I'd probably just "borrow" a box truck to carry my bike.  I mean, why rack up the miles on the bike.   ;D

Anyone ever read Z for Zacharia?  Very short, easy read, but is one of my favorites since I was a kid.  Last person on the planet stuff.  There was another one that this kid drove around an old blue mustang during the apocalypse, which was a fun read too... if you read it and remember the title please remind me!

Whiskey
cigarettes
toilet paper
chocolate
antibiotics
viagra
condoms
gasoline
bullets
arrows
dope
soap
beer
porn
false teeth
eye glasses
sun screen
etc.

These will be the trade goods of the future.
If you can't eat it, get laid with it, kill with it, get drunk with it, or get well with it it will have no value.

Of course it all depends on which version of the future you subscribe.

Are we talking about the Mad Max breakdown-of-society or a sudden decline from a disease, astral catastrophe, or alien invasion?

Lately I'm thinking we're heading more for a Soylent Green/1984 dystopia rather than the Road Warrior/Zombie apocalypse..

Grab a few friends or neighbors and take control of the nearest walmart.  All the food, water, clothes, guns, ammo, tools, gas and booze you'll need for a long time.

This generation??  You do remember what generation greasers came from right?  My Pappy always had a quart of oil in his hair... One time 8 of us went on a vacation in the ozarks, all in one land cruiser, pappy kept leaving grease marks on the windows when he'd pass out and lean on them to sleep.  Man, I miss that guy.
PS... 70s Firebirds are much hotter!  But thats a different thread.   :D

body armor, ammo(lots), tobacco, whiskey, beer, flashbang and frag grenades, machete, knifes, mutli tool, CB750 tools, MRE, salt, a small still, toothbush, nightvision goggles, shotgun, rifle, .45 pistol, radios (short and long) , range finder, GPS, extra scope, tent, bedroll, hookers and coke, weed and seeds, any other narcs I could find, antibiotics (several kinds) med kits, coagulating trauma patches, socks, lighter and fuel (and magsparker), needles, fish hooks, line, paracord, forceps any med equipment I can get(syringes etc.) double threaded sections of pipe and caps, bleach, and the bike in the back of a big 4x4 truck
