This is gonna take a while: CB750 Cafe Army theme
« on: November 17, 2011, 10:47:40 PM »
1974 CB750, its visually rough, but it start on the first kick :D

I have this in mind as a goal

here is what I am starting with. Carbs are getting a dip this weekend, first thing though is after a quick ride around the sub, the front end feels stupid loose, like no caster loose if that makes sense. The forks are pretty soft and Im sure the front tire could use a few lbs of air, but is that what is causing it to feel loose

I plan on going with the army green but will do the monster mouth on it to give it a air force bomber look

Probably a number of things. First things to check would be the fluid level in the forks and the steering neck bearings. More than likely its both. Most people convert to tapered bearings from All Balls Bearings. Changing out your fork oil and making sure it is at the proper level is a must do.

Well, not wanting to put a damper on your "military" theme, but that fighter/bomber art first came about in WW2 when we were all fighting the Japanese, so it seems a tad "ironic" that you're gonna use that theme on a Japanese bike?

Maybe you should do some research and find some pics of Japanese fighter/bomber art and use that instead? Y'know, a big "Rising Sun" motif with some Kamikaze symbols perhaps? I've done 34 years in the army, and personally, I hate drab green paint schemes. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've got an 08 600RR front end that will be going on my 79 CB650. However when I was hope it had not shown up yet so I haven't had a chance to check the stem length to see if I can use it or if I will need to use the original CB stem. If you go to All Balls website they have a front end conversion chart that will tell you all the bikes that use the same size upper and lower bearings. The one thing to consider when swapping front ends is getting an accurate calculation of what your trail will be since this will greatly affect the handling of the bike. On my  bike it will be fairly close and I'm hoping I can dial it in with suspension height front and rear. If not then I will be looking at making some custom upper and lower triple trees to correct it.

I had a poster some place that had all kinds of cool camo that he Japanese were using on their aircraft, actually it was better looking camo then anything we ever used.

Oh how is the US invasion of AUS going?  you any where near all that?

G'Day Mate, yep, 2500 Marines will be rotated thru Darwin for the next few years, that's cool, I've worked with those guys before and they're good blokes. I'm at the other end of Oz so I won't see them, but I think they'll like Oz a bit more than Afghanistan, ha ha! ;D
