A love story that waited 35 years
« on: November 12, 2011, 06:05:36 PM »
OK gotta share this one guy's n gals, in the 70's when we rode T350'S, T500's, GT550's etc a mate fell madly in love with the most gorgeous girl he had ever seen, she was only 14 and Sparky was about 18 I guess. Well her parents did every thing to keep them apart and eventually it worked but Sparky carried a torch for G the rest of his life, through 2 failed marraiges and the usual things life throws at us. But he never gave up on seeing her again and on a hunch one day he tracked her down using the voting rolls. She was married (very unhappily as it turned out) and Sparky sent her flowers with a note that he still loved her and always would. G responded that she needed to get out of her marraige but didn't know how, Sparky knew how and he charged in on his white steed (1200cc Suzuki) to rescue fair damsel. So today I'm at this charity ride and I'm looking at this guy and he seems vaguely familiar, the stunning blonde woman with him also rings a bell from the past, "Er is your name Sparky"? I hesitantly ask and "my God this is G isn't it"!
Sparky is a rough looking diamond but his good nature shines right through him, obviously G can see it and knows what a pussy-cat he is under that outer layer.
We caught up over coffee and I find the love story that waited 35 years has happened, I'm so damn pleased for them. Jaffa and I have been invited to their house warming in December, I'm really looking forward to that. :) Old bike mates are forever.

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Great story Hush and best wishes to them both.
Good stories like this really do reinforce the old saying that "All good things come to those who wait"  :)

Same thing hapened to a buddy of mine. The only difference was that he had found an email address for her years ago and would send a simple "Happy Birthday" every year.

A coule years ago she replied back after seperating from her husband. They had a good go of it for a bit until she realized that they were no longer 18 and dumped him.
