Petcock leaking, No screws on it
« on: November 19, 2011, 12:43:25 PM »
I know I had a member go into great detail on the differences of each of the 3 petcocks that were made for the 550 models. I searched the first 12 pages and can not find the thread which the member gave great detail. he PM'ed me a place to purchase a new one as well but I had to clean out my PM box. This is on my 78' 550k and I  replaced the gasket and it stopped for a few days. Now its leaking from the actual knob on the petcock. Since this is not set up the way my 550F is, how can i fix the leak? Or is it toast? Notice no screws to open it completely up.

If it is toast, may the member who helped me out send me the link of the Honda dealership that has these vintage parts. I think it was Twotired that gave the details or delta rider.. Most likely TT cause he is in America and Delta isn't. If its a different member sorry for not mentioning you..

Not real familiar with the K model, but if a new one is only $45, I would buy a new one if available.
Have you tried Western Hills Honda?

The 77-78 models, both 750 and 550 used the riveted type fuel valve design.  With a bit of prowess you can drill the "rivet", tap the body and then just replace the internal gaskets/seal.

I like Two Tired's fix;maybe you can fix this one up as a spare for 10 years down the road.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !

Contacted Western Hills today. Found out they cannot even get the replacement petcocks for the bike. They did offer another petock that would work but were very honest when informing me that some customers have reported poor fuel delivery. I ordered the gasket last night on ebay and will try to fix it.
