the market for bikes is hurtin like richard burton

Dick is dead so is the bike market

An acquaintance of mine had a low-miles (18k miles) 1991 Vulcan 750 Kaw in great shape and he put an ad on Craigslist, no buyers.  He put it on Craigslist in the San Fran bay area for....$250.  NO takers.  The bike is an 8 out of 10 and has new tires.

After several no-shows (7 no shows) one guy showed up.  And bought a 1991 Vulcan 750 for.......$125 he really chewed him down on it.

Keeping in mind, here in this part of California, we can ride pretty much all year.
Keeping in mind, the Vulcan 750 has been one of the most successful models Kawasaki ever made -- they rolled them out in 1986 and made them virtually unchanged from 1986 to 2006.  Real popular bike the Vulcan 750.

Are you folks seeing that kind of softness?  I know its winter but theres more to this story.

Gods.  I would have flown there and ridden it back for that.  I never find that kind of stuff on CL.  Mostly idiots who think their butchered street fighter/cafe/flat tracker is worth $10,000.

SR, how is the job market in your area, is BC in okay shape, it might be we just have no willing buyers here due to no jobs, some say the real unemployment rate is not 9% its more like 18%, I dont know it is crazy

Just because there is not a buyer, doesn't mean the market for everything is dead. Maybe it is the bike, I don't know much about that particular Kaw. But some bikes have passion, some are just transportation. I have owned things that others weren't as in love with as I was. That is why they make different models for different buyers. Different strokes for different folks.

Transportation or not, that would have been worth it for a good road trip.   I'm not a huge fan of the Vulcan, but a flight and cheap ride back up would have made it worth while, with a nice souvenir!

Anyway, the job market is not bad up here.  There isn't a lot work to be had, but not a ton of people are getting tossed either.  I'm fortunate - my line of work is more or less recession resistant.

The market is not soft here.  They think these things are made of Platinum.  Well, accept for the first generation Ventures, they hold no value for some reason, anywhere.  Can't figure out why either.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.
