CB550 Stars in TV Commercial
« on: September 05, 2011, 05:06:48 AM »
I don't know how wide the market is for this ad, but United Health Care has an ad out staring a 750 cafe!  An older gent sayz he's been riding since he was 15 then hops on the cafe and tears up a chunk of road.

UnitedHealthcare: Health in Numbers - Prescription Drugs

EDIT:  I found the clip.  On closer look, I think it's a 550, judging by the end caps on the head and the clutch cover.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Nice comercial!    BTW - United Health Care is my insurance provider.  One of our doctors told my wife that she would rather deal with patients on public assistance than United Health Care.....  I think that UHC is spending more on comercials than claims.

Pause it at 12 second and take a lose look at the clutch cover.  It's rounded and not 750 flat, nor does it have the 750 kick start leaver recess.  There is also an adjustment screw and lock nut down low.

It's a 550!

No doubt, '74-'78 SOHC CB550.  Nice looking, too.

At about second 24-25, you can see airplanes in the background, as well as some rather rugged hills in other shots. I'm betting a cyber-beer that this commercial was filmed near the aircraft graveyard in Mojave, CA. ;)
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

The same commercial is on AM radio (WLS-AM 890) in Chicago.  ....obviously just the audio.

Is that possibly not a 550 tank?

The guy looks like 80..... if he has been riding the bike since he was 17, then it means he bought it in 1948...   :o

On a second look, maybe he looks like 70...... that moves the purchase date to 1958. Still, too early for Honda SOHC/4's
