Only has about 10k. No holes in exhaust. Only 'major' thing is I have to concert it back to the stock ignition because the PO tried and failed to convert to electronic ignition.

You have a Very nice candidate for a restoration in that one ! or just fix it up and shine that nice Original paint and Excellent exhaust up in the great condition it's already in.
I would keep that one ! Honda Twin cylinder bikes are great everyday transportation+ !

I just got in from the garage with great news. It seems that all of the electrical works! (except the horn, no biggie) I just reinstated the original breaker ignition and I have spark. Going try to fire it up tomorrow:):).

Did good sopo ;D Looks to be good shape just needs some TLC  and you'll be good to go. $350 sure ain't nothing wrong with that. If I was going to another Honda that was not a sohc4 it would probably be a CB450DOHC. Matter of fact I ran across this 1970 CB450K3 last week rougher than yours by far, but its all there with title and only 14450 miles. It would be a major project, but I think it would be nice to have Here's a couple pics. Would you tackle it?

That certainly would need more than a spit shine.

So I just spent a few hours with the help of a more knowledgeable friend trying to get it started. We tried many different approaches to get it to start. It would backfire out the left carb and the right pipe.
We tried adjusting the timing by rotating the plate.
Tried switching the leads that go into the condensor.
Tried reversing the cam that is attached to the spark advancer, that the breaker lobes ride on.
Any thoughts?

Im a rookie at trouble shooting. Is the bike starting up and running just very badly and backfiring or just trying to start? I think I would check fuel lines and petcock make sure there clean to be sure your getting fuel. How about carbs, have you took bowls off. If bike been sitting for a while you have go through the carbs and give them a complete clean. Check plugs make sure you getting fire. I would say those are the 2 main things to look a first if you hadn't already.
Good luck, keep at it and your get it going  ;)

Those small carb bowls get a little dirt or water in them & it clogs the jets real easy;what kind of stuff is in your tank? it would be good to flush out & dry your fuel tank.

I viewed the link to the twins forum & that last pic is not very clear...but from what he is showing it looks like he says that the largest notch on the back side of the advancer fits into the dowel "peg" on the camshaft & I think that shows in that last pic(the blurry one)that the little small "notch" on the outside of the points cam needs to be lined up w/ the big "notch" & peg on the camshaft(which("peg") I think should be facing up when the camshaft is checked for correct valve timing while it is set to one of the marks on the alternator rotor according to the service manual...;you do have a good service manual, right ?!)which is a way to check both your valve timing & your ignition timing.I recommend that you check both of those: valve timing & ignition timing...but check your valve timing FIRST. Get that good service manual for it to make sure it's done by the book. When you have established those two things to be correct, you can check electrical issues in more detail i.e. coil connections & kill switch connections(black wire w/ white stripe),coil to frame mounting (shiny)metal to metal contact, etc.

Sopo,
Do you really have a "pet" deer...like in your Avatar ?

That 'deer' is actually  a goat.

Going to try again today and do a better job of following the manual.
