Things you don't expect...
« on: November 25, 2011, 01:19:59 AM »
....I guess we've all had things said to us that you just don't see coming, but I was at a business breakfast this morning, and was seated next to a couple of people who I hadn't seen for a few years and who I used to work with. Got talking about the old days and other old workmates of mine (it was only 10 years ago) and I asked "how's sally going?". I had kept in touch with her a bit since but hadn't spoken for a while, and always send a message for her birthday. Answer "didn't you know, she's dead. She was killed in a car accident a few months ago". I nearly fell off my chair - the poor people who told me were upset that I hadn't known and that I had to find out like I did, but not their fault.
I felt terrible that I hadn't known and only yesterday (this is true) thought I must give her a call.
So I sent a letter today to her husband and young son, was a very hard letter to write.

Anyway, I guess my point is you never know what the day is going to bring. :(

Really sorry to hear Pete.
That's a sad story and it just reinforces how lucky we are to have a life that we sometimes take for granted.

Going back a few ago years now, a girl walked into work and said "Hey You"
Do you remember me?
We used to go to school together back in Pirie and she had been posted to Darwin as a branch manager with the electrical mob (L&H) directly across the road from my business.
Well long story short, she was posted back to SA and sadly lost her life in an MVA.

So we really have to appreciate and make the most of what we have while we can.

Take care mate.
Mick
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.
