Hello Everyone,
My name is Andy Jansky, I'm a local Realtor from beautiful Vero Beach, FL. I've been a bike enthusiast all my life starting out in the 80s on an XR80, also hanging onto my Dad from the back of his BMW R69S.
My very first street bike was a 73 CB350 twin, first year with the front disc brake, it was dark green and had ape hangers and a sissy bar from hell.
As I got older I became very interested in the Japanese 4 cylinder bikes and eventually bought my first which was a used 87 Hurricane 600, had a blast on the bike growing up in New England even rode it in the snow on a few occasions. In 1998 after school and the military I purchased my first Yamaha R1, it was blue and white and the very first year for Yamaha's world renowned machine. Went thru about 5 R1s over the years and in 2006 when my first child was born that was it. I lost interest in the bike and it sat in the garage for the most part collecting dust. This was also the year that my Dad gave me the R69S, which has become a family heirloom.
A few months ago I sold the R1, took a major beating on it as I had put so much money into the bike and it was virtually in breams new condition, but I guess it's what the market could bare for a nearly 8 yr old sport bike.
Now with the R1 gone and the Beemer in my Dad's shed in New England and our kids getting older I've got 2 wheeled fever. I cauht a glimpse of a TV show a few months back called Cafe Racer, I'm sure some of you have heard of it. It was the one about Joker Machine's 72 CB750 cafe build...all I can say is I was in awe, I had no idea the cafe seen even existed let alone the fact that these old bikes were being brought back to life everywhere and the abundance of parts available. This got my mind wandering and before you knew it I was on Craigslist and eBay looking for my new project bike.
It took a couple months of hard searching and passing on a few junkers after seeing them in person, I finally picked up a 1977 CB750K in fair condition cosmetically but rode well, in fact I purchased the bike in Ocala and rode it 220 miles that day and night back to Vero Beach. This has become a late night project and I wasn't exactly sure where I wanted to go with the build but have acquired some random parts over the past month or so. As soon as I got the bike home the seat, fenders, lights, blinkers, fork ears etc were removed, I had stripped the bike down in about 1 night. Deciding to do it right I pulled the motor one night and ended up having the frame sandblasted and powdercoated. I've done a lot of work to thie bike cosmetically, refinished the motor (only outside) I didn't want to get into it because it ran so good when I rode it home. Now I'm in the process of rebuilding this beast and it has become a nightly occurrence in the garage, actually it's consuming every spare minute and my wife doesn't seem thrilled about it.
Enough with the life story and introduction, I'm happy to be here!
I'll start another topic with the progress of my build and and definitely research the forums for an explanation of why I can't get her started, she only sparks after letting go of the starter button.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
