How can I get this apart?
« on: November 25, 2011, 06:48:21 PM »
This is how my rear sets are attached now.  Anyone have any idea how to get this off the heim joint?

Just threads off the rod.  ???
The heim loint and shift arm are not separable.
If you need you can use a shift arm from a CBR and purchase heim joint that fasten with a bolt.

I mean heim joint not rod end sorry.  So a CBR shift arm will do, what do you recommend for the brake side (same situation)?

If all you want is the splined part, I would take a cutoff wheel and split the mushroomed end as deep as possible.  Then put it on something that would act as a heavy backing ie a vise or anvil, then hit the spilt with a good chisel.  It should crack right where the mushroomed end meets the small through shaft.  It's the same way I get past stripped machine screws.

I think I just need new donor arms.  I can just cut down a stock shift lever for that side, but the brake side is the question. The stock 350F brake arm is a big ol'e tubular thing.

Check out the Dime City Cycles website.  They might have what you're looking for.
